St Wilfrid’s Catholic Primary School is a voluntary aided school in the Diocese of Hallam. It is situated in the Millhouses area on the south west of Sheffield. It has good access to public transport and other facilities. St Wilfrid’s has been designated and outstanding school in the last two OFSTED reports. We provide a high quality education in the context of a strong Catholic ethos where every child and family is important.
The school has an admission limit of 40 children for each year group and we are regularly oversubscribed. Our admission number means that children are often taught in mixed age classes and are not always with the same children as they move through schools. The children adapt well to this situation and enjoy the variety they experience.
The school has its own woodland, playing fields and pond area. These are used to support teaching and learning in a variety of curriculum areas. The school also has a Quiet Garden where the children have opportunities for reflection and prayer.
History of the School
The school was built in 1956 and children were moved from the original site which now houses the St Wilfrid’s Centre at Healey. It serves the parishes of Mother of God and St William of York and we have close links with both our parishes.
School Aims
We work in partnership with our parents and carers to meet the needs and interests of all our children. Our Catholic ethos is at the core of all we strive to achieve for our children. We are proud of the high academic standards achieved by our children over a number of years, but offer a wide and varied curriculum which gives all children an opportunity to develop their full potential
