The Creative Curriculum at St Wilfrid’s
At St Wilfrid’s Catholic Primary we are committed to providing children with the opportunity to reach their potential as 21st century learners. Our children are growing up in a world which makes different demands from the one in which we grew up. We are continuously reviewing our curriculum to make it more relevant, enjoyable and effective. We are taking account of current research to improve our provision across all subject areas.
At St Wilfrid’s some lessons have a separate subject focus e.g.. Maths, others are linked to other subject areas so that they complement the teaching of both e.g. Literacy may be linked to the teaching of Geography, History etc. there are also broad based topics that include a range of subject areas to explore a wider topic. e.g. ‘Rainforests’ includes Geography, Environmental and Global Education, Science, Art etc.
We are enriching the curriculum through a variety of extra curricular opportunities, visits and partnerships with other schools and outside agencies. We are providing more opportunities for high quality participation in the Expressive Arts through partnership with professional artists. We work in partnership with other primary schools to enhance the spiritual, moral, social, cultural and personal experiences of children. We are adding a global dimension to our curriculum through whole school topics and review of the current curriculum. We also work closely with our secondary schools to provide additional opportunities and expertise for our children
We appreciate the support we get from you and we are interested in your views. Please feel free to give feedback on any projects that your child is involved in. We are constantly trying to improve our provision for the children in our school. Thank you for your support.
